Since the schools inception twenty six years ago, the soccer program has always competed with the best the State of Florida has to offer. Graduates of the program have gone on to have distinguished collegiate careers that include participation in the NCAA Final Four. Some graduates have gone on to play well over seas after college, and obviously many have graduated with great degrees from outstanding programs.
The team highlight has to be what has never been matched by any other public school in the State. On February 14, 1997 the boys won the State Championship by defeating undefeated Miami Senior High in a shutout. Right after the game, the girl’s team stepped on the field in Tallahassee and won the girls State Championship.
This year’s version will be young; a large number of tenth and eleventh graders will be representing the school. The staff will include two alumni, Jason Versage and Scott Gordon, and Coach McEnroe will be entering his seventeenth season as River’s head coach
