Paige Bell has signed with the
University of Florida receiving a 4
year scholarship to play SOCCER
for the Gators!

Congratulations also to Coach Kevin Turner! (pictured with Paige)

The Spanish River Girls Varsity Soccer team is steeped in tradition. Historically, one of the most successful programs in the State, the school won three state titles in the 90’s.  Over the past decade, as programs throughout Florida and especially in South Florida have become more competitive, the girls have captured seven district championships, six conference championships and have advanced to the Regional Semi Finals three times and the Regional Final once; all while playing in perhaps the toughest Region in the FHSAA State Series.

Alumni from Spanish River have gone on to play for some of the top collegiate programs in the United States, have played soccer professionally in the WUSA and abroad, and have competed in the Summer Olympic Games.  Kevin Turner is entering his tenth season as the coach of the Sharks.  Four of his players have been honored as Player of the Year by area newspapers and twelve graduates have played college soccer, including five currently.  This year’s team is an exciting blend of youth and experience.  Nine seniors, most of whom are four year letter winners, have been joined by eleven new players, including six freshmen who continue to prove that if you are good enough, then you are old enough to be a varsity player.

As always, the goals of the team are to develop as people, students and athletes and to compete for District and Conference honors while making another run deep into the FHSAA State Series Postseason.  As the tradition says: “Rock on River!”
